A lot of people think the flight team is all about precision landings and free flight time. Although the landing competition is important, our ground events are even more important. Our team cannot win with only flying events, and those members who take the time to practice the ground events are the ones who deserve the flight time. Due to some raised concerns in the past, we wish to make this perfectly clear: You must participate in, and try out for, a ground event to participate in a flying event. To make up for the "free" flight time we enjoy during flight practice, team members work very hard in a number of different ways: 1. Washing airplanes after practice, weather permitting. 2. Spending 10+ hours studying ground events for every flight hour used. 3. Working with KSU, sponsors, and alumni for donations to the flight team. 4. Various fundraisers such as selling food during the summer. 5. Representing Kent State University at competitions in a professional manner.
